The Stirling Sports group are pioneers of business format franchising in New Zealand, under the direction of the group founder and Managing Director, Colin Taylor.
In 1993, after 10 years of franchising, many of the first Franchisee's were still in the team and some had been awarded their second Franchise terms.
Today the name Stirling Sports has powerful brand awareness, customer loyalty and remains the largest nationwide chain with high profile Stores servicing the community in all major cities and towns.
May 2006, saw the role out of a new Store fit-out in the Sylvia Park Store in Auckland, which signified a new direction for the Group with its mall based Stores.
In September 2006, a new "mini-box" Store of some 600 m2 was opened which also established a new format, which is considered to be a huge opportunity to continue to provide the best range of sporting apparel, footwear and hardware as well as best service and great deals to the people of New Zealand.
As of December 2007,the Stirling Sports Group consisted of 33 Stores, with two new Stores due to open in the first quarter 2008.
The target for the group is to be at 40 Stores nationwide by June 08 and 50 Stores by June 09. All new and existing Stores will be refitted to the new format by the end of 2008.
